Welcoming New Hires properly is important because it provides a form of Orientation or On-boarding to new faculty who are usually not from the area. It serves to familiarize them with Charlottesville as well as provide a set of individuals (existing faculty) who they can interact with.
This procedure is applicable in its entirety to New Hires; however timelined goals should be set up even for internal hires.
The duration for such an on-boarding can vary from school to school but typically should be completed in 1-6 months. It can be led by the Dean/Department Chair/Senior Faculty as applicable.
